THE CHALLENGE

From technical material
to everyday learning.

The programme needed to communicate financial literacy, business planning, responsible borrowing and digital skills to people with very different learning needs.

My assignment was to review and restructure existing technical resources into practical materials that trainers could deliver confidently and women could engage with, including participants with limited literacy or numeracy.

THE LEARNING ARCHITECTURE

Two pathways.
One connected system.

The design separated training for programme facilitators from shorter sessions for community groups, while keeping the technical messages consistent.

01 / FOR TRAINERS

Five-day Training of Trainers

An agenda, comprehensive facilitator guide, activity-led presentation, session notes, exercises and assessments for programme personnel and Ward Facilitators.

02 / FOR COMMUNITIES

Ten-week WAG learning cascade

Short, participatory sessions supported by illustrated A3 flipcharts, facilitator prompts, stories and hands-on exercises for Women Affinity Groups.

SELECTED LEARNING PRODUCTS

MY CONTRIBUTION

Clarity in the content.
Care in the delivery.

My role combined instructional design, plain-language writing, information design and iterative technical review.

01 / ASSESS

Review and harmonise

Assess existing manuals, slides and tools, reconcile overlapping content and develop a coherent learning sequence.

02 / SIMPLIFY

Write for understanding

Use clear explanations, familiar business situations, stories and exercises suited to different literacy levels.

03 / VISUALISE

Design for facilitation

Create illustrated learning aids, structured presentations, flipcharts, worksheets and practical prompts.

04 / REFINE

Check the details

Coordinate technical comments, clarify terminology and align all related materials through revision and quality assurance.

learning tools.

THE VALUE OF THE WORK

Make learning
possible in practice.

The result was a coordinated set of training and communication resources that connected technical requirements with accessible, participatory teaching methods.

The materials underwent iterative technical review and were submitted at consultancy close-out. Field testing was outside the assignment scope, so this case study makes no claims about downstream learning or livelihood outcomes.

Assignment undertaken for Plan International Nigeria in support of the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up. This independent portfolio describes my consultancy contribution and does not imply programme endorsement. Visuals shown are selected design samples from the assignment.
